Y29 Bachelor of International Hotel and Resort Management

Provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a career in the hotel and resort sector. This industry-based course is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge, competencies and professional attitudes required by management in contemporary hotel and resort organisations.  It commences with an introduction to the hotel and resort sector in the context of the broader tourism and hospitality industries and focuses on the application of key aspects of marketing, service management, financial management, research methods, and business development.  Specialist units focus upon food and beverage management, rooms division management, facility management, contemporary issues and professional industry experience. This course also provides students with the opportunity to apply for a one semester internship placement with a leading hotel or resort business.

The Bachelor of International Hotel and Resort Management degree requires a minimum of 360 credit points (24 units) and normally requires three years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent.


The degree has the following main components:

  1. a Core Program of 240 credit points (16 units);
  2. a supplementary program of 120 credit points (8 units) consisting of;
  • a four unit (15cp each) minor or four electives
  • a two unit (30cp each) industry internship placement or four units as approved by the course coordinator
