This is the last of four language and literacy units and is intended to provide preservice teachers with an understanding of the issues associated with teaching English to K-7 children who are speakers of English as an additional language (EAL). During the unit, preservice teachers will be presented with an opportunity to gain an awareness of the educational, cultural and linguistic needs of these children and how to respond to these needs with appropriate strategies and resources.
