728 / 699 Post Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Mental Health)

The aim of the Post Graduate Diploma of Nursing (Mental Health) is to provide the opportunity for registered nurses to develop the knowledge, skill and clinical competencies required to deliver mental health nursing care, and gain eligibility to register with the Nurses Board of WA on Division 1 of the Register as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Entrants are required to hold a minimum of a Bachelor of Nursing degree or an acceptable equivalent, be currently registered with the Nurses Board of Western Australia (or Australian State equivalent) and have a minimum of one year post-registration experience or equivalent.

 
COURSE LOCATION
This course is available on Joondalup Campus.

It is expected that the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Postgraduate Medicine will be located at the Joondalup campus from semester 2, 2007.
 
MODE OF STUDY
This course is available by Full-time, or Part-time mode.
 
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course is available in the following modes of delivery - On-campus, and Online.

Most units are available in the external mode. The two mental health practicum units are available in the internal mode or external mode by negotiation with the course coordinator. During 2006, print based materials will be replaced by online course delivery. Students require access to a computer and modem for use of online resources.

The course is comprised of four core units and two elective units with a total credit point value of 120.
