C16 Diploma in Indigenous Services

The Diploma in Indigenous Services is designed for students who aspire to work in the Indigenous sector. The course develops the knowledge and skills needed to work in Indigenous service delivery and to contribute to self-determination for Indigenous people.  It additionally provides an exit award for students who have completed one year or eight units of the Bachelor of Social Science (Indigenous Services). Students who have graduated from the Diploma are eligible for advanced standing of 120 credit points should they subsequently enrol in the Bachelor of Social Science (Indigenous Services).

 

ABSTUDY AND STUDENT SUPPORT

Indigenous students may be eligible for financial assistance through ABSTUDY.  All Indigenous students can access counselling, academic skills advice and the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS) through the School.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The course is open to all students who have attained one of the following admission requirements:

  1. TEE University Entrance Score
  2. Mature Age Entrance Score
  3. Direct admission as a result of Indigenous Student Intake Test
  4. Aboriginal Pre-Tertiary Course graduates (e.g., IUOC)
  5. An appropriate TAFE qualification
  6. Recognised Prior Experience and Learning Score (RPE/RPL)

 

NOTE: This course will only run subject to receiving sufficient applications for admission.

This course is available on Mt Lawley Campus.

Off-campus. (Core units and suggested electives may be delivered On-campus depending on student numbers. Students may choose On-campus electives.)

The Diploma in Indigenous Services is a 120 credit point (8 units) course.

IAS1219 Professional Services 2: Workplace Communications 15
IAS1103 Introduction to Financial Practices 15
 
Choose 15 credit points from the following:
IAS1102 Identities and Intercultural Practices 15
ACS1121 Aboriginal Perspectives on Cultural Arts 15
