Description:
Retailing is a dynamic and diverse profession encompassing a variety of areas. This unit examines the general concepts of retailing from the perspective of a small business. The unit will cover fundamentals of retailing such as retail store operations, location planning, channels of distribution and merchandising. Care will be taken to ensure that the individual who completes the unit will have an understanding of what it takes to “run” a successful retail operation. With the majority of small businesses failing within the first three years of operation, we will examine ways to overcome that failure rate to have a successful, profitable business.
