This course enables you to pursue your passion and career goals simultaneously with a choice of majors spanning traditional and contemporary arts and humanities disciplines. You will have a unique opportunity to design a focused or cross-disciplinary course according to your personal interests, in areas that cover historical, critical, political, theoretical and creative practices that underpin our global cultures and industries. Admission to the Contemporary Fashion and Textiles major, the Visual Arts major and the Visual Arts Immersion major is based on a folio and interview.

Applicants for the Post ATAR French and Japanese majors will require WACE 3A/3B, or equivalent language skills in the relevant language.

Native speakers of Japanese who have completed their compulsory education in Japan and/or in a Japanese educational institution overseas (i.e., six years at primary and three years at junior high school) are not eligible to enrol in a Japanese Major or Minor.

Native speakers of French who have completed their compulsory education in France and/or in a French educational institution overseas, (eg six years at primary and three years at junior high school), are not eligible to enrol in a French major or minor.

This 360 credit point degree consists of:

1. A core program consisting of 60 credit points (four units), including a final semester capstone unit);
2. A Major  program consisting of 120 credit points (eight units) in the areas listed above.

The remaining units in this degree (180 credits) follow EITHER Pattern 1 OR Pattern 2:

3. Pattern 1 consists of:
o A second Major  programme in the School of Communications and Arts of 120 credit points (eight units)
AND
o A supplementary programme in the School of Communications and Arts and/or the wider University of 60 credit points (four units, comprising either a Minor or four electives)

4. Pattern 2 consists of:
o A Second Minor programme in the School of Communications and Arts of 60 credit points (four units) AND
o A supplementary programme in the School of Communications and Arts or the wider University of 120 credit points (eight units, comprising either another major, OR a minor and electives, OR eight electives)

* PLEASE NOTE: In the Bachelor of Arts (Y69), the Visual Arts major is an expanded programme comprising sixteen units. Students who undertake this 240 credit point Visual Arts major are not required to undertake the second specialisation programme or the supplementary programs as listed above. Instead, they will achieve 360 credit points by completing the four core units (including the capstone unit), the 240 credit point Visual Arts major, and 60 credit points (four units) consisting of EITHER four electives OR another 60 credit point Minor. Note that there is also an 120 credit point Visual Arts Studio major available as a second major to other students in the School.
 
Whatever pattern students choose:

• no more than ten of the units studied should be at first year level;
• at least four units must be at third year level;
• it is recommended that students select units from their chosen major(s) in the first and second semesters of enrolment.
