Game Design and Culture Major  
MAGAME 
Y72 BACHELOR OF CREATIVE INDUSTRIES 
 

The Game Design and Culture major prepares students for the emergent growth industries of information and entertainment afforded by ubiquitous digital technologies. The major explores creative gaming technologies through a critical and cultural perspective, and with a focus on the creative visual design of digital media experiences for end users. Students will study the social and cultural impact of games, the psychological and social principles of game design, and the development of digital and analogue visual media for games. The major has been designed with a view to complement other courses such as interactive multimedia, design, film and video and games programming.

Students may commence Level Two units of their Major in the first and second semesters of enrolment.
 
Students are required to complete all of the following units (75 credit points):

GDT3106 Game Level Design 15
 
In addition, students are required to complete three units (45 credit points) from the following list:

IMM3205 3D Animation 15
GDT3104 Game Studies 15
GDT3204 Games Project 15
 
Note: It is recommended that students intending to study the Game Design and Culture Major complete the following Foundation Program electives:
