SPE3103 Professional Issues in Speech Pathology

This unit is designed to facilitate development of self-management and self-evaluation skills in professional speech pathology practice. The unit will focus on the pedagogical role of clinical supervision, mentoring skills and service delivery to a range of individuals from cultural and linguistic backgrounds in a variety of clinical settings, emphasising the integration of information from related disciplines such as speech science and audiology. To demonstrate reflective practice, students will develop and review an outline of a clinical education handbook suitable for use in a range of settings that employ speech pathologists. They will also review procedures for undertaking assessments within ethical guidelines of the profession and procedures for identifying and reporting professional misconduct.
