Description:
This unit examines the processes involved in the development and maintenance of a community of learners. The unit will include analysis of teaching practice that engages children with learning, maintaining interest and motivation, and developing effective relationships. Students will investigate the relationships between a quality, inclusive curriculum, and effective classroom/group organisation and management. The unit will help students develop an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of effective management in diverse learning environments. The focus of the unit will be on pedagogical practice, involving planning, reflecting and engaged pedagogy, as critical aspects of management. Strategies for responding to behaviour across the age range 4-12 years are analysed as part of this unit.
