Description:
This unit focuses on the processes of learning and development. The unit begins an analysis of current understandings of learning and development, the theoretical bases for these, and implications for teaching and learning. Students will examine relationships between learning environment, development, family, community and culture. Students will use their own autobiographical experiences and research to reflect on their understandings about learning, and the nature of a learning community. The cognitive, social, emotional, physical and moral dimensions of children's learning and development will be introduced in this unit, as the basis for future units.
