EDL1000 Becoming a Teacher
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 15

Description:
This unit will use reflective processes to engage and extend students' thinking about teachers and teaching in a changing world. The unit will provide opportunities for students to engage with and draw on educational theory, policy and practice as they develop a philosophical understanding of teachers and teaching. The focus will be on the teacher as a decision maker and learner. Students will access and critically analyse relevant literature, construct and sustain reasoned and coherent arguments about educational matters, and use reflective processes in order to begin research into effective teaching. The unit addresses issues related to values and world views and how these inform teachers' understanding of curriculum, pedagogy, relationships and diversity.
