Description:
This unit will introduce students to the systematic study of language including its structure, how it varies and how it is shaped by speakers, situations and contexts. It will investigate how language operates as a social process through analysis of spoken and written texts relevant to teachers’ work. In this way students will develop practical skills for observing, describing and analysing language in a range of socio-cultural contexts including the classroom.
