NMH0102 Mental Health Nursing Theory

Prerequisites:
Previous completion of a recognised mental health nursing qualification leading to registration (Division 1) with the Nurses and Midwives Board of Western Australia (or equivalent).
 
Description:

This unit examines concepts relating to the Scope of Nursing Practice across the spectrum of mental health. Students will explore key elements of mental health nursing theory that are essential for renewal of registration, including assessment and treatment modalities (including substance abuse and co-morbidities), models of care, consumer and self efficacy perspectives, ethics and law, safety issues for consumers and practitioners, family and cultural contexts. This unit will also examine the global changes taking place within mental health including benchmarking, outcomes measures and self efficacy models.
