RES5104 Research Preparation: Textual Research

Description:
This unit develops the student’s understanding of modes of reading historical and literary texts since classical antiquity, with particular attention paid to the post-Enlightenment period. The relationship of modes of reading to prevailing philosophical currents is examined. Methodological problems attending the use of historical and literary texts in the study of history and religion are also investigated.
