Description: | |||
This unit examines the dilemmas facing environmental policy makers in a global system of economics and politics. The unit examines these trade-offs and the apparent contradictions between sustainable ecological systems and economic growth. Key topics in the unit include the problems of environmental forecasting, economic instruments for achieving environmental goals, issues in policy formulation, and the rise of the green movement. The unit considers the preconditions for successful policy measures in the pursuit of a democratic, equitable and sustainable society. | |||
