Description:
Students will examine the development of music in Europe and the Americas since World War 2. They will study: electro-acoustic sound sources; avant-garde techniques and computer-generated and synthesised sounds; concert, theatre and film music, and recent developments in France, Italy, North and South America, Russia and England, as well aleatoric, minimalist and stochastic techniques.  In addition, they will examine the rise of popular music from the 1950s to the present day.  Students will continue in composition and arranging. Instrumental/vocal practicum will build on the third year.
