This unit enables students to expand their roles in professional and innovative models of maternity care. Students continue to pursue continued knowledge development in midwifery and midwifery praxis. The philosophies, traditions and historical context shaping midwifery praxis as well as emerging trends such as partnership models, woman centred care and empowerment are covered. Students acquire knowledge of legislation and ethical codes of practice that guide midwifery. Supported by clinical practice, students begin to explore midwifery‑led models of care for women anticipating an uncomplicated pregnancy and birth. | |||
