This unit provides students with an awareness of the capacities and experiences of learners for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL). Pre-service teachers will explore the needs of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the mainstream classroom and will investigate a range of approaches for addressing these needs. The unit will be informed by current perspectives and issues relating to language and language acquisition and teaching approaches to multiliteracies in curriculum content areas. Pre-service teachers will be introduced to formal and informal methods of evaluation and assessment of EAL learners. Full Unit Outline | |||
