K34 Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Arts (Psychology)

A double degree in Business and Psychology enhances the professional preparation and alternative employment options of both Human Resource Management (HRM) practitioners and Psychologists.  Graduates gain a basic qualification in Psychology that can lead to further study in Psychology and possible registration with the Australian Psychological Society, and a degree in HRM, allowing them to register with relevant professional bodies such as the Australian Human Resources Institute.  This combination will improve graduates' competitiveness in both fields.

 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Standard University admission requirements apply, although admission to the Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree at Joondalup is competitive.  Meeting minimum admission requirements does not guarantee enrolment.

 
SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are expected to have studied mathematics at year 12 or equivalent.  Students without sufficient background in mathematics may need to complete Business Mathematics.

This unit does not contribute to course credit.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The double degree requires four years full time study.  Students take 240 credit points (16 units) from the Bachelor of Business and 240 credit points (16 units) from the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) totalling 480 credit points, meeting the structural requirements of both degrees.  Psychology units are required to be completed in strict year sequence (i.e., all first year units must be completed before proceeding to second year units, and all second year units must be completed before proceeding to third year units).
