K31 Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning

The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning has been designed to enable students to succeed in their chosen area of planning.  It draws on the University's broadly based expertise and provides a comprehensive and innovative planning program with distinctive strengths in community planning and project development.  The course focuses on the application of the quadruple bottom line with its emphasis on environmental, social, economic and governance accountability within a framework of sustainability. 

 

Students choose the Major they wish to follow.  Currently, the following Majors are available:

  1. Environmental Planning
  2. Governance and Policy 
  3. Project Development and Management
  4. Community Planning and Development 

 

A supplementary program offers students a choice of Elective units to complete their degree. 

 
 
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students must meet the ECU standard admission requirements, however entry to the Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning is competitive and meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee entry to the course.

 
 
SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Students applying for this course will be required to attend an interview. The interview will be carried out by faculty staff within the Centre for Planning.
 
COURSE LOCATION
This course is available on Joondalup Campus.

All studies will be based at the Joondalup campus. However, depending on choice of subjects, students may be required to travel to either of the Metro campuses (Joondalup, Mount Lawley).
 
MODE OF STUDY
This course is available by Full-time, or Part-time mode.
 
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course is available in the following mode of delivery - On-campus.

Please note that some of the units are available in online supplementary mode
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

The Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning degree requires a minimum of 360 credit points and requires three years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent.

 

The degree has the following main components:

  1. A core program of 240 credit points
  2. A Major program from one of those listed above of 120 credit points (including two units from the core program of 15 credit points each) 
  3. A supplementary program of 30 credit points consisting of two Elective units.
