Y83 Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Science is designed to provide high quality studies in a wide range of science and technology disciplines. Students take four introductory science/maths units and can then select combinations of disciplines relevant to their interests and aspirations in a wide range of professions in science and technology, combinations not offered in other degrees.  In addition, the course can be structured as a suitable entry degree for a range of postgraduate research degrees in maths and sciences or professional courses such as dietetics and occupational therapy.

Prerequisites apply to the Mathematics and Biological Science majors. For all other majors standard admission requirements apply. Students are referred to the major structures listed below for further details.

COURSE LOCATION
This course is available on Mt Lawley, Joondalup, and Bunbury Campuses.

Please note that Coastal Environmental Science and Surf Science are offered on the Bunbury campus only. Students may have to take units at Joondalup, Mt Lawley and/or Bunbury campuses.
 
MODE OF STUDY
This course is available by Full-time, or Part-time mode.
 
MODE OF DELIVERY
This course is available in the following mode of delivery - On-campus.

Some units may be available in online mode.
 
COURSE STRUCTURE

The Bachelor of Science award consists of 360 credit points (24 units) comprising:

 

Four (4) core Science and Maths units

plus

two (2) eight unit science majors chosen from the list below (a total of 16 units)

plus

an approved combination of four (4) units from within the Faculty or anywhere in the University;

or

any combination of units as approved by the Executive Dean of the Faculty.

 

Restrictions on the selection of units are as follows:

  • a maximum of 180 credit points at 1000 level;
  • at least four 3000 level units must be completed.

 

Students planning on following this course with Honours or Masters should speak with their Course Coordinator to ensure they complete sufficient units in their chosen discipline.

MAT1114 Introductory Statistics 15

Another approved mathematics unit.

Students undertaking the course in Bunbury should consult the Course Coordinator about alternatives to the core units offered on that campus.

*Students should consult the structures of their two majors when deciding on units to take. Where a listed course-level core unit also occurs in one or both majors, students should discuss their unit selection with the Course Coordinator before enrolling.
