The Bachelor of Health Science Honours degree qualifies individuals to apply a body of knowledge in a public health context to undertake professional work and provides a pathway for research and further learning.  Graduates of a Bachelor of Health Science Honours Degree will have coherent and advanced knowledge of the underlying principles and concepts in a population health discipline and knowledge of research principles and methods.

The Bachelor of Health Science Honours Degree comprises a fourth year of study or its part-time equivalent after students have completed the third year of the Bachelor of Health Science or its equivalent. This is a one-year full-time (or part-time equivalent) course consisting of six units worth 20 credit points each. A total of 120 credit points is required to complete the degree.

Students may commence this course in Semester One or Semester Two (i.e. mid-year entry is available).

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Health Science degree or equivalent three-year undergraduate degree in a related field. It should be noted that this course commences Semester One each year (i.e. mid-year entry is not available).  Special admission requirements are outlined below.

To be eligible to be invited to apply for admission students will normally require an overall course weighted average mark of 70% or higher; an average of 70% or higher in Major units; or an average of 70% or higher in level two and level three units of the Bachelor of Health Science.

Students are required to complete six units totalling 120 credit points to complete the course. Students must complete three coursework units and three thesis development units culminating in the submission of a thesis for examination.
