The Coastal Environmental Science major is intended for individuals who have an enthusiasm for physical, chemical and biological maritime and atmospheric science. This major provides opportunity to take on relevant academic study and consequently pursue a professional career in the burgeoning environmental science field. Delivery of the Coastal Environmental Science major within the Bachelor of Science course occurs at ECU South West in collaboration with the Department of Water, the Bureau of Meteorology, South West Catchments Council and local coast-care agencies. This major fits with the Surf Science major however it provides a flexible pathway for students to pursue study in any of the science majors offered at ECU Joondalup and Mount Lawley campuses. Water monitoring, coastal zone management and snorkelling excursions to Rottnest Island and south west venues are some of the exciting aspects of the Coastal Environmental Science major.
