Students examine contemporary arts practitioners linked with the major art movements of the 20th and early 21st centuries and their innovations. The unit investigates “a constellation of practices” inspired by artists, directors, choreographers, composers, writers and critics whose work has blurred distinctions between disciplines and furthered debates and definitions of theatricality and performance. It also deepens the student’s awareness of the interrelationship between critical theory and arts practice.
