CPP3103 Language and Literacies for Diverse Learners

Description:

This unit is intended to provide pre-service mainstream teachers with an awareness of the capacities and experiences of learners for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL) or Standard Australian English is an Additional Dialect (SAEAD). Based on these abilities, the unit explores the needs of linguistically and culturally diverse learners in the mainstream classroom and approaches for addressing these needs. The unit will be informed by current perspectives and issues relating to language learning and teaching (including multiliteracies) in curriculum content areas. Students will be introduced to formal and informal methods of evaluation and assessment of EAL and SAEAD learners.
