CPP2104 Curriculum Decision Making and Pedagogical Practices: Music Education

Description:

This introductory unit examines the role of music in the development of children six to twelve years.  Module 1 will engage students in music-making activities, developing an understanding of the elements of music and an appreciation of music.

Developmentally appropriate musical experiences which incorporate the diverse needs of children, will be studied.  Using the Curriculum Framework and music education resources, students will produce and implement a series of class and group activities.  Evaluation methods will include peer review and critique.  Module Two will explore music across time and cultures, thus enhancing and extending students’ music literacy.
