Description:

This unit examines the historical background and present development of gerontological community care. The social dependency of elderly people in modern society is examined. The unit focuses on the definition of the needs of the aged, and the home care provisions designed to meet those needs, including the role of the voluntary care sector. Present home care services in Western Australia are described, within the context of national and international initiatives in aged community care.
