SCC1123 Chemistry for the Life Sciences

TEE Chemistry or equivalent
 
Description:
This unit provides an introduction to organic chemistry and the structure and reactions of important functional groups and biomolecules including carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Various organic compounds with important applications will be described, including synthetic polymers, fibres, soaps and detergents, dyes and medicinals.
