Students will examine the current state of the art in the teaching of reading comprehension by drawing together the essential relationship between theory and practice. Contemporary research on interactive and transactional models of reading will be explored with a focus on the contextual factors which may influence the reader's understanding of text. On the basis of their understanding students will develop definitions of comprehension and consider teaching strategies which reflect these definitions. Full Unit Outline | |||
