MUE6603 Teaching and Assessing Post-compulsory Music

Description:

In this unit students will examine in detail, and critically evaluate the WACE Music Course across its three Areas of Study, and the music component of the National Arts Curriculum. Assessment and moderation procedures within both music course frameworks will be examined, where possible in a practical context, with the aim of developing effective assessment and moderation programs. Teaching strategies, such as the Active Listening model will also be applied to the teaching of set works within a post-compulsory music context. Legal, moral, social and logistical issues retaining to the effective teaching of music in secondary schools will be considered, as potential catalysts for future research.
