LAN6604 Literacy and the Transition to Secondary School

Description:

This unit considers the vital role of literacy in all areas of secondary school teaching and learning. It addresses literacy learning theory, diagnosis and remediation of student literacy, and practical support strategies for content area teaching. Traditional, cross-curricular and multiliteracy approaches will be examined. While the major focus is on language-based literacy, attention will be given to contemporary and emerging technology literacies, and to their role in the changing education landscape.
