PLE6421 Extended Professional Learning: Planning and Assessment

Description:

This unit provides instruction and opportunity for reflection upon the connection between pedagogy, planning, assessment and the overall teaching programme of Primary Schools in Australia. Framed by the planning, teaching and assessment cycle this unit will address characteristics of quality assessment, purposes of assessment and frames of reference for making evaluations and reporting achievement. Knowledge of authentic and inclusive assessment practices in the context of outcomes based learning is a theme that also underpins this unit. Long term planning is also a feature of this unit as well as contemporary issues facing beginning teachers. The unit is practical and will include a school based component where students will spend 30 days in a school.
