SCE6111 Science and Technology Education in Early Childhood

Description:

This unit provides opportunities for students to examine the nature, development and application of science and technology in daily life for children birth-8 years.  Students will reflect on and develop their own scientific literacy knowledge. A focus on supporting children’s explorations and participation in their immediate environments to develop positive attitudes towards learning about the world of science and technology is a feature of this unit. Students will design integrated inquiry-based learning experiences and programs for young children to extend creativity, problem solving, curiosity, inquiry and enterprising behaviours. Current research into aspects associated with science education, technology in teaching and learning and sustainability will be reviewed.
