LAN6110 Oral Communication and Drama
SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
Credit Points: 15

Description:

This unit focuses on the development and facilitation of children’s communication and language in the early years. How children learn language, use language for learning and develop knowledge about language is explored in detail. Students reflect upon the core pedagogical practices and content knowledge that inform the learning and teaching of communication and language in the early years. Using an inquiry based approach students reflect upon the application of this knowledge in a range of professional learning contexts. Students use evidence based research to assess, plan, implement and evaluate leaning outcomes through a socially just, responsive and differentiated curriculum. Students will develop partnerships with early years educators and parents/carers in order to develop leadership skills to promote communication and language, as a means of closing the literacy achievement gap in early childhood.
