MMS3106 Virology

Description:

This unit has an emphasis on viral infections that the affect human body systems as well as a multisystem immunological response. Viral epidemics and pandemics will be investigated to enhance the knowledge of how these processes occur today. Infection and modes of virus reproduction will be studied in detail, including newly emerging viruses. Antiviral chemotherapy is studied and practical sessions will develop knowledge of specialised techniques and diagnostic aspects of viral infections. Slow viral diseases and sub-viral particle diseases including prion diseases will be analysed.
