IAS3509 Professional Services 5: Strategic Planning

Description:

This unit is an introduction to the theory and practice of strategic planning. It presents a comprehensive overview of the development and implementation of contemporary strategic planning models applicable to private, public and Indigenous organisations.  Students are introduced to the history of Strategic Planning from the 1960s to the present.  They are shown how the current environment can be analysed in order to create value for an organisation.  The unit discusses the key elements of Strategic Planning and explores how strategy is used to create a competitive advantage. The subject concerns those strategic decisions and actions which determine an organisation’s position in its industry, the focus of its operations and its preparedness in the face of eventualities. Students are required to look into the issues that are needed to prepare a strategic business plan for an Indigenous organisation.
