Description:

This unit enables students to explore the theoretical and empirical basis of contemporary issues in Public Safety and Emergency Services. Students develop an understanding of how to access and source peer reviewed empirical literature that inform our understanding of identified contemporary issues. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of critical thinking skills. This provides students with an opportunity to formulate an evidence based, rigorous conclusion about a contemporary issue under consideration. Students also develop an understanding of the different approaches to research, their theoretical underpinning and relevant ethical issues.
