This unit is aimed at introducing students to basic data management functions necessary for a small to medium enterprise to conduct all forms of electronic business activity. To facilitate the understanding of data management, database software such as Microsoft Access will be taught. The unit encourages students to appreciate the advantage of electronic databases and shows how to build and change simple database software applications as well as covering some issues related to integrity, security and data integration. Throughout the unit students will be expected to focus on issues relevant to the database needs of indigenous organisations. Full Unit Outline | |||
