PTY5101 Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapy 1

Description:

In this unit, students will gain an overview of neuro-musculo-skeletal pathophysiology. Students will learn the skill of therapeutic touch through massage, and how to assess and describe an individual's posture. Students will study normal gait and identify the pathologies behind abnormal gait. Students will also conduct a peripheral nervous system examination (sacral plexus). Students will become familiar with the application of common assessment and management techniques for the peripheries used in musculo-skeletal physiotherapy and the manual therapy treatments of the lower limb. Students will learn how to plan and evaluate treatments of the lower limb. Students will learn about common orthopaedic conditions of the lower limb, and the physiotherapy management of these conditions.
