CRI5204 Child Sexual Abuse - Risk Reduction

Description:

This unit introduces students to risk reduction practices in child sexual abuse.  Approaches to reducing risks to children include analysing strategies that teach children protective practices and exploring biopsychosocial interventions to reduce offending.  The unit also considers issues associated with working in the field of child abuse such as staff selection and the impact of personal experiences.  The role of community supervision and the custodial management of offenders are explored.  Special attention is also given to the practical issues confronting teachers, health practitioners and child protection workers.
