LAW4711 Introduction to Chinese Economic Law

Description:

This unit is a basic introduction into the Chinese legal system focusing on Chinese Economic Law.  The unit introduces students to the legal basics necessary to understand basic Chinese economic law.  Students will be introduced to Chinese contract law, property law, labour law, taxation law, intellectual property law, joint ventures, trade law, Chinese enterprises and the relationships between Chinese business and the Chinese political system.  This unit will introduce students to English language legal reference sites on Chinese legislation and case law cultural and practical issues concerned with doing business in China, commercial arbitration in Beijing and Hong Kong and the nature and function of special economic regions.
