SSE4215 Teaching Society and Environment (Primary)

Description:

This unit investigates the nature and scope of the Society and Environment Learning Area within the context of current WA and Australian curriculum documents. Pre-service teachers will analyse the structure, content and use of the Western Australian Society and Environment syllabus materials. They will examine inquiry oriented teaching strategies and learning activities for developing conceptual understandings, consider issues based approaches, review Society and Environment processes and skills and core values underpinning the active citizenship outcome. In addition, pre-service teachers will identify a range of Society and Environment teaching and learning resources, examine techniques for monitoring and reporting the level of achievement of outcomes, and introduce a model for long term planning.
