Description:

This unit provides an overview of management theory and practice within the tourism industry with reference to the organisation and structure of travel and tourism businesses. Leading theories of tourism management will be examined and related to management practices at the organisational level. These theories relate to tourist motivations, visitor flows, the structure of the tourism industry, government involvement in tourism, and economic, social and environmental impacts of tourism. A range of international and Australian case studies will be presented to illustrate these theories and their practical implications and applications.
