SEA0204 Curriculum Support for Special Needs Education

Description:

This unit focuses on the provision of curriculum support for special needs learners from kindergarten to secondary school. Literacy and numeracy skills, early intervention and transitions preparation, such as, from secondary into post school options, will be examined. Students will study how task analysis paired with Individual Education Program goals will determine how the curriculum is adapted and support strategies modified to cater for individual difference. This unit presents students with a framework to support planning, implementing and evaluating learning situations. A ten day supervised practicum in a school setting, with a  child with special needs, will consolidate the unit content and provide an opportunity for classroom observations and case study.
