SST1130 Surfing Skills
SCHOOL OF REGIONAL PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Description:

The surfing activity is investigated via the consideration of essential proficiencies and techniques associated with surfboard riding.  Surfing Skills is delivered in collaboration with Surfing Western Australia and Surf Life Saving Australia.  Surfing procedure is developed through theoretical and practical coaching sessions.  An intensive “surfing camp” conducted by Surfing WA coaches is an essential component of the unit.  Human anatomy and physiology, risk management, rescue and resuscitation techniques and first aid are studied in association with Surf Lifesaving Australia.  Completion of the SLSA Bronze Medallion qualification is a requirement of the unit.
