Employment law is focused on the detailed examination of employment and industrial law in Australia. The unit introduces students to the following topics: identifying employment, the balance of rights and duties in employment and regulation of atypical employment. Highlighted topics include the duties of employees and employers, with particular reference to fidelity trust and confidence and the duty to provide a safe system of work, termination of employment, discrimination and workers compensation.


The statutory systems in relation to unfair dismissal, employment discrimination, awards and enterprise agreements will be covered in full.
