M90 BACHELOR OF SCIENCE (EXERCISE SCIENCE AND REHABILITATION) | |

The Major 'ESSA Exercise and Sports Science Professional Accreditation' comprises 120 credit points and is only available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science) degree. Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the peak body for Exercise and Sports Science in Australia and they have accredited the above mentioned degree. Unit selection should be based on desired career pathways: Accredited Exercise Scientist (3 years) or Accredited Exercise Physiologist (4 years) or Physiotherapist (2 year post graduate degree). |

STRUCTURE
Students considering a career as an Exercise Scientist must select 6 units from the list below plus 2 mandatory units; MAT3101 and SPS2108. Students should enrol into MAT3101 in 2nd semester of year 2 and SPS2108 in year 3.
Students considering a career as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist must select 4 units from the list below plus 4 mandatory units; MAT3101, SPS2108, SPS3121 and SPS3120. Students should enrol into MAT3101 in 2nd semester of year 2 and SPS2108, SPS3120 and SPS3121 in year 3.
Students considering a career in Physiotherapy are recommended to select 8 prescribed units; SCP1132 or SCP1134, SCH2111, SCH3236, SCH1104, SPS2108, SPS4116, MAT3101 and OCT1206. See table below 'Prescribed Electives' for suggested order of enrolment.

* Students selecting SPS2111 must select the Volleyball and Athletics components.
* SCP1132 and SCP1134 are very similar units. Both have been included as the units are offered on different semesters providing greater enrolment flexibility. Both units must not be selected together.
* SPS4116 is only available to students following the pre-physiotherapy pathway and requires Course Coordinator permission to enrol. SPS4116, a 20 credit point unit, will exceed the total amount of credit points required for this major. Approval has been given to allow this.

PRESCRIBED ELECTIVES |
PRE-PHYSIOTHERAPY STREAM: If students are following the pre-physiotherapy stream it is commended that you complete the units in the order outlined below. Please note: A high course weighted average is required to be eligible for entry into the Master of Physiotherapy programme.
SCP1134 and SCP1132 are very similar units. The units are offered in different semesters providing greater enrolment flexibility allowing students to enrol in either SCP1132 (1st semester) or SCP1134 (2nd semester). Both Units must not be selected together.
