Health Promotion Major  
MAAAHV 
K97 BACHELOR OF HEALTH SCIENCE 
 

The health promotion major comprises 120 credit points (eight units) and is designed to prepare students for a role as a health promotion professional in a changing global environment. Health promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over their health, strengthening their skills and capabilities but also actions directed towards reducing inequalities in the community. Students will cover planning, development and implementation of health promotion policies and projects, for example Quit or Go for 2&5; using a variety of strategies, including e-health, mass media, community development and engagement processes, advocacy, social marketing, research and evaluation. Students undertake practical placements in the field to strengthen their opportunities in the workplace.

 

Bachelor of Health Science students substitute two units for HST1121 and HST1122. The substitute units may consist of HST2222 or HST2100 or HST3213 (or another HST unit approved by the Bachelor of Health Science course coordinator).
