This major explores the social and cultural context of media. Students will examine the influence and power of media and the forces that affect them. It introduces students to a significant range of contemporary theoretical and critical approaches used to analyse media texts, media technologies and their position in the world today. The course also allows students to construct a hybrid program of study which looks at theory and practice in fields such as advertising, journalism, public relations and visual communication.
