ESL1008 University English: Life and the Environment

Description:
The general aim of the unit is to expose the student to types and varieties of spoken and written discourse, communicative functions, and conceptual activities related to the theme, 'Life and the Environment', and its sub- themes, for example 'human biology', 'health and recreation' and 'the use of pesticides in agriculture'. More specifically, the aim of ESL1008 is to assist the student in developing greater facility in the four macro- skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) as well as in such study skills as note-taking, library research and reading for inferencing to 'academic English'.
